Lombard Appoints New Managing Director
London, July 23rd – Lombard, the asset finance provider has appointed a new managing director, Alex Baldock, who joins from Barclays. Alex replaces Paul Lynam who has been appointed Chief Executive, UK Business Banking within the RBS group.
Alex is an experienced corporate financier. At Barclays he was most recently Commercial Director of Barclays Commercial Bank, running all the UK SME frontline sales and service teams. Previously, he ran eight of the Larger Corporate teams, building what became the largest and fastest growing division in Corporate Banking. Alex has strong business management credentials having worked for thirteen years as a management consultant at Bain & Company, Ernst & Young and Dentsu with a wide range of blue chip companies. He has also acted as senior strategy advisor at the BBC and to Shadow Chancellor Michael Portillo MP.
Alex will be responsible for Lombard, the asset finance division of the RBS Group, which has established itself as the UK's clear market leader in asset finance. Key accolades won by the business this year include Business MoneyFacts Best Business Motor Finance provider and a Commendation as Best Leasing & Asset Finance Provider also by Business MoneyFacts.

Alex graduated from the University of Oxford with a Double First and is a scholar of Worcester College, Oxford. He later graduated from Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Programme. Alex was brought up in France, lived and worked for four years in the US, and has worked in every continent including stints in Switzerland, Japan, Singapore and Brazil. He is married with three children and loves his sport including football (Chelsea season ticket holder), rugby (Harlequins regular), cricket and field sports.
