Mansfield Electrical Services take delivery of new van fleet supplied through Lombard

Nottingham , May 15th 2008 – Mansfield Electrical Services ("MES") have taken delivery of a new van fleet to support their growing business in a fleet solution provided to them by Lombard, the asset finance provider and part of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group ("RBS").

Established in 1984, MES has for two decades carried out electrical contracting works for national and international clients. With over 100 employees, MES is involved in all aspects of the electrical services sector.

NatWest in Nottingham, provide MES with day to day banking services and introduced Lombard to MES to provide the fleet solution.

Lombard will provide MES with a new fleet of turn-key VW Transporter and Caddy vehicles, with deliveries of an initial 42 vehicles now under way. They will be fully maintained over a three-year cycle. The vehicles are being delivered with specifications including internal racking and ply-lining, roof systems and livery.

They will also all be equipped with Lombard Fleet Tracker, the most advanced vehicle tracking system available. MES chose Tracker principally to establish greater control over vehicle locations to improve customer service, but also to provide better duty of care, obtain lower insurance premiums, and to manage the requirements of the latest BIK tax regime by recording private mileage.

The new fleet strategy is a dramatic change for MES, which previously spot hired its fleet from one of the UK's largest commercial vehicle providers and was experiencing an increasing shortfall in the service it now requires.

"We need flexibility and ongoing support as our business grows," says MES Business Operations Manager Terry Hawley. "Lombard excelled in the tender and have gone the extra mile ever since. This is a big investment but they came in at right price and have stayed with it despite since providing extensive consultancy advice - they have created a strategy which will help the business grow. The fleet will now be fit for that purpose and will also give an enhanced presence on the road, which is an important publicity tool.

"The level of support has been exceptional. We have been particularly impressed with how Lombard have understood our needs and been completely flexible in accommodating those needs rather than pulling a solution out of a drawer. For example, we have had vehicles on loan to try in the real world before committing. Their helpfulness has been very pleasing, the people have been very good to deal with and we have already developed a real working relationship."

The deal has been handled by Tom Adams, Relationship Manager at Lombard and Nigel Winkett, Associate Director, Business Development at NatWest.
